Travel
By plane:
- The three main airports for New York City are JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.
- JFK is connected to the subway and train system by the AirTrain and therefore provides more direct public transportation options. If you're headed to Brooklyn, take the AirTrain to the subway. If you're headed to Manhattan, take the AirTrain to the Long Island Rail Road which takes you to Penn Station in Manhattan. Of course you can also take a bus (NYC Airporter) or taxi.
- LaGuardia is basically only accessible by taxi or a bus (NYC Airporter).
- Newark is connected by train to Manhattan. You can take either the NJ Transit or Amtrak to Penn Station in Manhattan. Taxis are not available because it's in a different state, so if you want a private car you'll have to pre-arrange it. We use DIAL7 or Carmel. The Newark Airport Express bus is also available.
By train:
- Amtrak to Penn Station. MetroNorth to Grand Central. Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station. New Jersey Transit to Penn Station. Chances are if you take one of these, you've been here and done this. Enough said.
Accomodations
Brooklyn:
We have rooms reserved at both the Sheraton Brooklyn and the Aloft Brooklyn which are side-by-side in the downtown Brooklyn area. These hotels are very close the Q train station at DeKalb Ave and which provides convenient connection to Manhattan as well as the reception location. Manhattan:
We have rooms reserved at the Sheraton Times Square (which is actually at 53rd street, not Times Square). This hotels is very close the Q train stations at 49th St or 57th St and therefore provides convenient connection to the reception location and a central location in Manhattan. To make reservations, call 1-800-325-3535 and reference the Cloudman/Schnaps wedding for a special rate.
